Kenya Dominates Mombasa Open Tong-Il Mood-Do Martial Arts Championship

Kenya's team, Jasiri, made a strong start to its title defence at the Mombasa Open Tong-Il Mood-do international championships, held at the Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa County, on December 7, 2019.

The team bagged 20 medals, including five gold, eight silver, and seven bronze, on the first day of the event, which attracted 14 countries.

Thailand secured two gold, one silver, and bronze medals, while South Korea and the Democratic Republic of Congo each won a gold medal.

Ruth Rono won two gold medals for Kenya, one in the women's individual colour belt category and another in the team forms category, where she was part of a Kenyan team that took the top spot.

Anthony Napatu also won a gold medal for Kenya in the men's blue stripe category, while Twalib Rashid led a Kenyan team to victory in the men's beginners' team category.

Wycliffe Wabukala won a gold medal for Kenya in the men's forms category, and the team also secured silver and bronze medals in the same category through Fredrick Omollo and Young Ominde.

Thailand won gold in the white belt men's category, while Kenya's Wanga Hassan and Twalib Rashid won silver and bronze respectively.
