Manchester City's title hopes suffered a significant blow as they lost 2-1 to Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on December 7, 2019.
However, the match was marred by an alleged incident of racial abuse, which has sparked a police investigation.
According to a statement from Manchester City, officials from the club are working with Greater Manchester Police to identify individuals involved in the incident and assist with their enquiries.
The club has also confirmed that they are working with GMP regarding an instance of objects being thrown onto the field of play.
Manchester City operates a zero-tolerance policy regarding discrimination of any kind, and anyone found guilty of racial abuse will be banned from the club for life.
Manchester United's Marcus Rashford was asked if he heard the alleged abuse during the match, and he replied, 'No, not during the game but it can happen.'
He added, 'In recent times, we have been dealing with it a bit better, but the fact it is still happening isn't good enough. There is obviously still some work to do in that area.'
