December 7, 2019, marked a significant day for Everton as they secured a 3-1 win over Chelsea in an exciting encounter.

Under the guidance of caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson, Everton displayed a rejuvenated side, putting their past woes aside to claim their first win since the sacking of Marco Silva.

Everton's high press game forced mistakes on Chelsea, who lacked their cutting edge throughout the match.

Richarlison rose highest to meet a Theo Walcott cross, sending the Everton faithful into delirium, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored a brace, with Chelsea's Matteo Kovacic scoring the only goal for the Blues.

Chelsea's character was tested at 2-0 down, but they responded swiftly with Kovacic's superb volley. However, against the run of play, Calvert-Lewin found his second goal and Everton's third, putting the game beyond doubt.

The win takes Everton away from the bottom three to 14th, while Chelsea will need to regroup after losing three of their past four Premier League games.
