On December 3, 2019, the Sports Disputes Tribunal nullified Football Kenya Federation's elections, citing a lack of public participation and constitutional irregularities in the Electoral Board's composition.

Following the ruling, FKF President Nick Mwendwa revealed that the federation's executive has resolved to hold fresh elections.

According to Mwendwa, the new process will be completed by January 2020, with the tenure of the current FKF office set to end on February 10, 2020.

Notably, Mwendwa stated that FKF will not contest the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
