On December 7, 2019, a devastating building collapse occurred in Ndagani, near Chuka University in Tharaka Nithi County, leaving scores of people injured.

According to the Kenya Red Cross, rescue operations are ongoing, and fortunately, no deaths have been reported so far.

At least 12 people were rescued from the rubble and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, while the area has been cordoned off by police officers.

Reports from students suggest that the building was a one-storeyed structure housing a night club on the top floor.

Separately, another building collapse occurred in Nairobi's Tassia estate, resulting in the deaths of four people, with 32 others rescued from the rubble.
