Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has made a bold statement by signing a £40 million deal to stay at the club, rejecting Arsenal's interest.

With a contract that will earn him £8 million a year until 2025, Rodgers is now focused on building a legacy and making Leicester one of the club's most entertaining teams ever.

Former Liverpool and Celtic coach Rodgers, 46, has already transformed the Foxes since joining in February on £5 million a year from Celtic.

His impressive turnaround has sparked interest from Arsenal, who axed Unai Emery, but Rodgers has committed to Leicester for the long haul.

“In 30 years’ time, this is a team that could be remembered for the level of football and how competitive they are,” Rodgers said.

He added: “I’m committing my work and life to here to give it everything. You want your legacy to be what the supporters see on the field, but also the feeling that they have watching the team.”

With his backroom staff also getting new deals, Rodgers now hopes to retain Leicester's in-demand starlets, including James Maddison, a Manchester United target.
