Likoni Ferry Tragedy: Body Recovered, Governor Joho Urges Caution

On Saturday, December 7, 2019, a dramatic rescue unfolded at the Likoni Channel in Mombasa, where a car had plunged into the Indian Ocean.

First responders sprang into action, and by 9am, they had retrieved the body of a man from the water.

As rescue efforts continued, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho shared a message of sympathy, urging ferry users and management to exercise caution.

"In the meantime, I urge ferry users and management to be cautious. We cannot afford to have any more casualties in similar situations," Governor Joho said in a statement.
