On December 5, 2019, Kenya's rugby team, Shujaa, narrowly lost to South Africa 17-12, with Alvin Otieno and Johnstone Olindi scoring tries for Kenya.

However, things only got tougher for Kenya on Day Two of the Dubai Sevens, as they lost to England 12-5, with Nelson Oyoo scoring a try for Kenya.

Kenya's performance was marred by fine margins, as they also lost to Spain 22-19, with Olindi and Oyoo scoring their second tries of the tournament, and Jacob Ojee also scoring a try.

Despite a decent tournament from KCB halfback Johnstone Olindi, who finished third on the Impact Player table, Kenya's disappointing performance left them to challenge for the 13th place playoffs against Scotland on Saturday, December 7.

Kenya will face Scotland in the 13th place playoff at 12:52 PM on Saturday, December 7.
