On December 7, 2019, a video surfaced online capturing the moment when Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was handcuffed at Ikanga airstrip.
According to the clip, Sonko was surrounded by police officers who had arrested him in Voi. As they tried to secure the handcuffs on his hands, he suddenly let out a sharp scream in pain, protesting that they were too tight.
The governor's sudden outburst led to a commotion, with him violently pushing away the police officers surrounding him. He also hurled insults at one of the officers, who responded with a kick that failed to connect before other cops intervened to stop the situation from getting out of hand.
