On December 6, 2019, the 3rd Digital Tech Excellence Awards event took place at the Intercontinental Hotel in Nairobi, recognizing outstanding achievements in the digital tech industry. Over 50 companies were awarded for their innovative work, with Lanstar Technologies Sacco Company emerging as the winner in the software systems provider category.
Lanstar Technologies Sacco Company's director, Martin Mugweru, expressed his gratitude and humility upon receiving the award, stating, "It has been an honour, we are humbled and happy about ourselves for emerging the winner despite the stiff competition."
Other notable winners included Tuko, which emerged as the best online news platform, and Masoko Kenya, which was awarded the best online shopping platform. Tala took home the award for the best mobile fund raising platform, while Getboda, Sindikenya, Skygarden, and Masoko Africa were also recognized for their achievements.
Byrentkenya.com was awarded the best online job marketing platform, and Pigiame won the best classified online platform category. Erick Wafula, head of marketing at Pigiame, expressed his gratitude and acknowledged the hard work that went into their win, stating, "We are grateful, last time we did not win but we went back to the drawing board and did a lot of improvement that has resulted in our win."
ORO Kenya, an upcoming digital real estate marketing company, emerged second in the "Online Real Estate Marketing Platform" category. The company's founder, Avshil Malde, expressed his excitement and gratitude, stating, "It has been a great year for us with two awards in our portfolio, we humbly thank DIA awards for recognising our efforts among the industry giants."
ORO Kenya's cofounder, Nidhi Avshil, added that the company is committed to providing a pocket-friendly and hassle-free advertising experience for Kenyans, stating, "We created this platform solely so that Kenyans can spot being exploited from extravagant marketing rates and enjoy the technological benefits for marketing."
The event was a testament to the growing digital tech industry in Kenya, with many companies showcasing their innovative work and achievements.
