As I mark my 30th birthday, I am reminded of the significant milestones I have achieved and the lessons I have learned along the way. Born on December 6, 1989, I have spent nearly a decade practicing journalism and have had the opportunity to reflect on my experiences.
One of the most important lessons I have learned is the value of being comfortable with oneself. In a world where social media often presents a curated version of others' lives, it's easy to get caught up in the idea that we need to be constantly connected and validated by others. However, I have come to realize that true happiness and fulfillment come from within.
Being comfortable with oneself means being okay with solitude, learning to enjoy one's own company, and being at peace with one's thoughts and God. It's a mindset that allows us to focus on our own growth and development, rather than constantly seeking external validation.
Another crucial lesson I have learned is the importance of having good friends. While it's easy to get caught up in the idea that we need to be self-sufficient and independent, I have come to realize that having a supportive network of friends is essential for our well-being. Good friends provide a sense of belonging, offer emotional support, and help us navigate life's challenges.
Of course, having good friends also means being mindful of the company we keep. It's easy to get caught up in the idea that we need to impress others or fit in with a particular crowd, but I have learned that true friends are those who accept us for who we are, without condition.
As I look back on my 30 years, I am also reminded of the importance of taking care of our physical and mental health. This includes eating healthy, exercising regularly, and being mindful of our habits and behaviors. By prioritizing our health and well-being, we are better equipped to handle life's challenges and achieve our goals.
Finally, I want to emphasize the value of learning and personal growth. Whether it's reading books, taking courses, or seeking out new experiences, I believe that it's never too late to learn and develop new skills. By prioritizing our education and personal growth, we are better equipped to navigate an ever-changing world and achieve our full potential.
As I celebrate my 30th birthday, I hope that these lessons will be of value to my younger sisters and brothers. Remember, life is a journey, and it's never too late to learn and grow.
