Naivasha, Kenya - December 5, 2019
Leaders from Rift Valley who have been supporting Deputy President William Ruto have reversed their stance on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
According to sources, the leaders met in Naivasha, Nakuru County, for a two-day meeting where they discussed the BBI report.
During the meeting, the leaders expressed their willingness to support any initiative that will help to eliminate corruption in the country.
On December 4, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta had strongly criticized leaders from the Tanga Tanga faction for inserting politics into the BBI report.
Senator Samson Cherargei, who had earlier opposed the report, took to Twitter on December 6, 2019, and announced that he was ready to support any initiative that will be taken to implement the report.
"Leaders from Rift Valley have met in Naivasha and have agreed to support the BBI report 100%. Let the Kenyan people make a decision on whether the report should be taken to Parliament or a referendum," Cherargei tweeted.
