Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's dramatic arrest unfolded on December 6, 2019, as he landed at Wilson Airport in a police chopper at around 2:30pm.
According to eyewitnesses, a convoy of police vehicles whisked the Governor from Wilson Airport through Mbagathi Way and then to Integrity Centre under tight security.
As Sonko was taken to EACC headquarters for processing, traffic police cleared all the roads leading to EACC citing security reasons.
The road from Sagret Hotel to opposite Panafric remained closed for several hours, and two police water canons were seen making rounds at Integrity Centre.
Anti-riot police officers also patrolled the environs, ready to thwart any attempts by sympathizers to take to the streets in protest over Sonko's arrest.
Nairobi Regional Commander Philip Ndolo was in-charge of the police operation.
