Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's arrest turned dramatic at Ikanga airstrip in Voi on Friday, December 6, 2019.
According to a video, Sonko resisted arrest and shoved off police officers who were trying to cuff him.
He was initially taken to Voi Police Station before being led to the airstrip, where the scuffle broke out.
Police surrounded Sonko in an attempt to contain him, but he resisted, almost getting into fisticuffs with one of the officers.
His aides eventually managed to break him away from the ring of law enforcers, and he was led away in handcuffs towards the awaiting chopper.
It is worth noting that Sonko had been arrested after Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji issued an arrest order against him and other officers in his administration over corruption allegations.
However, Sonko termed the arrest a political trap laid against him, but said he was ready to deal with it.
