On Friday, a six-storey building in Tassia estate, Embakasi East Constituency, Nairobi, collapsed, leaving scores of people feared trapped inside.

Nairobi Regional Police Commander Philip Ndolo confirmed the incident, stating that a rescue operation is underway in the residential flat that came tumbling down on Friday morning.

Emergency responders, including ambulances and firefighters, are facing difficulties accessing the area due to the poor state of the roads, which has been worsened by recent heavy rains.

Residents of Tassia estate have joined the rescue efforts as the number of those trapped and the cause of the collapse remain unclear.

As of now, the police have not issued an official statement on the incident.
