On Thursday, a police constable and three civilians were arrested in Nairobi for allegedly stealing Ksh.50,000 from a driver.

The driver, a car-hire driver, was attending a relative's graduation at the Kenya Medical Training College when the gang of four, all purporting to be police officers, handcuffed him, took his phone and car keys, and demanded Ksh.30,000 for his release.

However, the driver was forced to borrow the balance from friends through M-Pesa, but the gang could not release him after receiving the 20K.

Fortunately, the driver spotted a Police Chief Inspector and rushed to him for help, forcing the gang to flee.

But the suspects were cornered and arrested by members of the public, who had been alerted by the police boss.

During the arrest, the police recovered two mobile phones, Ksh. 50,140 in cash, a damaged police pocket phone, and handcuffs.

The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged accordingly.
