December 6, 2019, marked a tragic day in Tassia, Embakasi, as a four-storey building suddenly collapsed, leaving several people trapped under the rubble.
When Citizen TV arrived at the scene, the sounds of despair filled the air as some of those trapped cried out for help.
According to residents, the building started sinking into the ground at 5am on Friday, with all floors inhabited at the time of the collapse.
First aid responders from the Kenya Red Cross, St. John’s Ambulance, and Emergency Plus Medical Services (EMS Kenya) were quickly dispatched to the scene to assist in the rescue efforts.
Electricity lines were seen leaning precariously close to the building, with one of the power cables affected by the collapse.
Rescue operations are currently underway in Tassia, Embakasi, following the collapse of the six-storey building.
