On Friday morning, a six-storey building in Tassia Tasia, Embakasi East constituency, Nairobi, collapsed, leaving several people feared trapped in the rubble.
Nairobi police boss Philip Ndolo confirmed that rescue operations are underway, with local residents joining in to help rescue those trapped.
However, medical and emergency teams faced difficulties reaching the site due to the poor state of the roads, which had been affected by heavy rains in recent weeks.
According to resident Ken Odero, the area has been plagued by poor drainage since the rains started, which he believes may have contributed to the collapse.
The cause of the collapse is yet to be established, but police are yet to issue an official statement.
