On December 6, 2019, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's arrest sparked drama at Voi airstrip, where he initially declined to board a police chopper.
He was later forcibly taken aboard, amidst a tense scene that also saw journalists covering the event harassed by officers attached to the DCI.
The arrest came hours after the Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji ordered Sonko's detention, citing sufficient evidence to warrant his prosecution.
According to Haji, the evidence was gathered during a review of the investigation file handed to the DPP by the EACC, and it implicated Sonko alongside 16 other individuals.
