Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi Eyes Governorship 2022

Kisii deputy governor Joash Maangi is courting Governor James Ongwae's support as he eyes the governorship in 2022.

Maangi plans to pick two female deputies to succeed Ongwae, in line with the Building Bridges Initiative.

Maangi, a lawyer by profession, has been focusing on the Bogirango and Nyaribari clans, which feel shortchanged since the advent of devolution.

Maangi recently joined Ongwae and other leaders in raising funds for Bonyunyu SDA church, drumming up support for the BBI.

Senator Sam Ongeri is torn between going for the gubernatorial seat or defending his senator's seat, sources revealed.

Ongeri, from the Nyaribari clan, is unnerved by the entry of Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu in the gubernatorial race.

Maangi controls the youth in the region and has been re-elected with Ongwae in two general elections.
