On December 6, 2019, a devastating incident occurred in Tasia, Embakasi East, when a six-storey building suddenly collapsed, leaving many trapped in the rubble.
According to eyewitnesses, the building sank shortly after 10 am, with the constant rains making its survival even more challenging.
Rescue efforts are currently underway, with the Nairobi police boss mobilizing different official teams to assist in the rescue mission.
A woman was rescued from the rubble, but the number of people feared to be trapped remains unclear.
The reason for the collapse is yet to be established, but initial assessments suggest that the building may not have been structurally sound.
