On December 6, 2019, a devastating incident occurred in Tassia Estate, Embakasi, Nairobi, when a six-storey residential building collapsed, trapping an unknown number of residents inside.
Emergency rescue operations were immediately launched, with ambulances and firefighters rushing to the scene. However, their efforts were hindered by the poor state of the roads, which had been worsened by the recent heavy rains.
Despite the challenges, rescue teams managed to safely evacuate at least 10 people from the building. However, numerous others are feared trapped, and rescue operations are still underway.
