On Friday, a six-storey building in Tassia Estate, Embakasi East Constituency, collapsed, leaving scores of people feared trapped.

Nairobi Regional Police Commander Philip Ndolo confirmed the incident, stating that a rescue operation was underway in the residential flat.

Emergency responders, including ambulances and firefighters, were facing difficulties accessing the area due to the poor state of the roads, which had been worsened by recent heavy rains.

Residents of Tassia Estate joined in on the rescue efforts as the cause of the collapse and the number of those trapped remained unclear.

As of the time of reporting, the police had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
