At just 22 years old, Joeboy has already made a name for himself in the music industry. His viral hit single 'Baby' dropped earlier this year and peaked at the top 10 of Apple music charts in Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria.
Joeboy's relationship with Mr Eazi dates back to 2017, when he did a cover of Ed Sheeran's 'Shape of You.' Mr Eazi was impressed and reached out to Joeboy to help him break through.
Joeboy was one of 10,000 applicants from 14 African countries to make it to Mr Eazi's emPawa programme, which aimed to launch the careers of gifted African artistes. He emerged as one of the 100 recipients to earn a share of $300,000 (Sh30.5 million).
Fast forward to 2019, and Joeboy is still trying to wrap his mind around the fact that he snagged an Afrimma for Best Artiste in African Pop and that his songs are on heavy rotation across the continent.
On his love life, Joeboy refutes claims that he is dating a woman of English descent. 'My girlfriend is Nigerian and not from the United Kingdom. She is very understanding of my life in the spotlight, and that makes life absolutely easy,' he reveals.
Joeboy plans to tour Europe and the United States next year, and despite never having attended a job interview, he is confident in his ability to succeed in the music industry.
