Kenya's Shujaa rugby team faced a tough start to their 2019-2020 HSBC Sevens World Series season, losing 17-12 to South Africa on Thursday night at 'The Sevens' stadium in Dubai, published on December 6, 2019.
Despite an early unconverted try by Ryan Oosthuizen, Kenya took the lead two minutes later thanks to Alvin Otieno's converted try, and Vincent Onyala extended their advantage to 12-5 at halftime.
However, South Africa mounted a strong comeback in the second half, levelling the score through Rosko Specman, before Seabelo Senatla sealed the win for South Africa with a third try just two minutes from time.
Kenya will face England in their next match on Friday, before concluding the group stage with a tie against Spain.
