On December 6, 2019, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko faced a possible weekend in custody after the Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Hajji, ordered his arrest.
The arrest order was issued on Friday morning, citing allegations of mismanagement of public funds and money laundering against Sonko.
According to reports, any attempts by Sonko to incite the public to social unrest would be met with the full force of the government.
