On November 21, Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana obtained an interim injunction against blogger Cyprian Nyakundi, restraining him from publishing defamatory statements about the governor or his family.
The injunction, served through Nyamu and Nyamu Company Advocates, was published in a local daily on Thursday and indicated that Nyakundi was expected to appear for an inter parties hearing on November 26.
However, the hearing took place without Nyakundi's presence, and the governor has since moved to the High Court in Nairobi to seek justice.
The defamation case stems from a September 19 article in which Nyakundi claimed that the governor was building a Ksh600 Million hotel using funds siphoned from Makueni county coffers.
