Kirinyaga: Woman Sets House Ablaze Trying to Kill Snake ¶
On December 5, 2019, a woman from Kibingoti village in Kirinyaga County, Kenya, made a desperate attempt to kill a snake that had invaded her home.
Elizabeth Muthoni Gacheru, a resident of the village, had spotted the snake entering her bedroom and decided to take matters into her own hands.
She lit a small fire in the room, hoping that the smoke would drive the snake out, but the plan quickly went awry.
As the fire spread, Gacheru realized that she had underestimated the situation, and the flames engulfed the entire house.
Firefighters from Kirinyaga County were eventually called in to put out the blaze, but not before the house had suffered significant damage, with estimated losses of over KSh 1 million.
According to eyewitnesses, Gacheru had been trying to kill the snake for some time, but her efforts were in vain.
As the situation unfolded, neighbors gathered outside the burning house, watching in horror as the flames consumed the property.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of taking the law into one's own hands and the importance of seeking professional help in dealing with wildlife.
