On Thursday, December 5, 2019, Tanzania secured a resounding victory in the Copa Coca-Cola Africa Cup Tournament, defeating Zimbabwe 6-2 in the final at the Mpesa Foundation Academy in Thika.

The four-day tournament, which attracted 10 countries from various football associations in Africa, saw Kenya finish fourth after losing the third-place playoff to Zambia.

Tanzania's impressive run began with a goal from Inasio Perelo just four minutes into the game, but they quickly leveled the score through Mohammed Rai's ferocious effort, which rattled the crossbar.

Paul Nyerere then put Tanzania ahead at the quarter hour, and the scored board flashed up to read 3-1 shortly after when Harun Ndile got his name on the score sheet.

Nyerere grabbed his hat-trick in the 28th minute, and Boniface Raphael increased Tanzania's goal tally to six just five minutes later.

Speaking after the triumph, Tanzania coach Abel Mtweve hailed his charges for following his game plan, saying, 'My boys followed my instructions and our efforts have paid off.'
