On Thursday, December 5, 2019, tragedy struck in the Cherangany constituency of Trans-Nzoia county when a 14-year-old boy named Vincent Omwenga made the ultimate sacrifice to save his brother.
According to reports, Vincent had just sat for his KCPE exams and scored 324, a remarkable achievement. However, his joy was short-lived as he was found dead in his mother's bedroom, allegedly after being encouraged to return to school.
The incident occurred in the village of Ngonyek, where the boy's mother was reportedly at the market when the tragedy happened.
Benjamin Bengat, the village elder, confirmed the incident and expressed his condolences to the family.
Trans-Nzoia County Police Commander Ali Ayub also confirmed the incident and stated that investigations have been launched into the matter.
