Heavy rainfall has caused widespread flooding in Joska, Joska, with residents struggling to cope with the situation.

On December 5, 2019, a dramatic rescue mission unfolded when a police helicopter descended above a house marooned in floodwaters to rescue a man who had climbed onto the rooftop.

As the helicopter hovered above, people in the background could be heard shouting in praise of the pilot for saving a life.

“Today Ndung’u has boarded a plane and he does not have a passport,” a bystander was heard saying, likely referring to the rescued man.

The rescue mission came as the meteorological department warned that the rains pounding several parts of the country would persist until the end of December.

Residents in Western Kenya, the Lake Basin, and Rift Valley were advised to be on the lookout for overflowing river banks and landslides.
