Citizen TV's 10 over 10 Show Under Fire ¶
A petition with over 20,000 signatures has been delivered to Royal Media Services, calling for the cancellation of Citizen TV's 10 over 10 show.
The show, hosted by Willis Raburu, has been criticized for promoting pornography and immorality, with many calling for it to be scrapped.
Ann Kioko, CitizenGO Campaigns Director for Africa, delivered the petition to Royal Media Services on Wednesday.
‘A national television station such as Citizen TV should not bring a show which is more of a discotheque with all sorts of pornography, nudity and sexual provocation being promoted,’ Kioko said.
Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, the director of the Kenya Films and Classification Board, has also raised concerns about the show in the past.
However, Dr. Mutua claims it is impossible to cancel the show because it airs after the watershed period.
Online comments have been filled with criticism of the show, with many calling for it to be stopped.
‘If you wouldn’t watch a show with your parents, then it shouldn’t be aired on Live TV,’ one Twitter user said.
Another user said, ‘This show parades tens of indecently dressed youth who dance and twerk live on television. The almost naked youth dance in sexually provocative styles while the disc jockey makes sure to spin the dirtiest of the songs.’
