December 5, 2019, marked a disturbing day for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) as one of its officers was caught on camera engaging in a deeply unprofessional behavior.

The officer, whose name has not been released, was responding to a call about a dead body in a residential unit. He and his partner confirmed the woman's death and, as the partner returned to the patrol car, the officer remained behind.

Unbeknownst to the officer, his body-worn camera, which he had switched off, continued to record for two minutes. During this time, he allegedly fondled the woman's breast.

The video was captured a few weeks after the incident during a random check of body camera footage.

The LAPD has placed the officer on leave pending an investigation. The union representing the officer has distanced itself from the incident, stating, 'We will absolutely not defend this individual in any criminal proceeding.'

Craig Lally, president of the Los Angeles Police Protective League, apologized to the family affected by the officer's actions.
