On Monday night, a police officer was among two people shot and injured in Nairobi's Fedha estate by suspected gunmen.
The incident occurred after a gang of three robbed a shop in the area and attempted to escape.
As they fled, they shot a woman in the leg, grabbed her bag, and continued running.
However, they soon encountered a police officer walking home, who was shot in the thigh.
Nairobi police boss Philip Ndolo confirmed that a squad had been dispatched to hunt down the gangsters.
Separately, a suspected thug was shot dead earlier in the week in a botched robbery on the Southern bypass road in Nairobi.
The man was part of a gang that had been targeting motorists and pedestrians near Lenana School, robbing them of valuables.
Police have since intensified patrols in the area.
