Kenya's new school sports stars, Lelmokwo, Agoro Sare, and Mbooni Boys, have made a name for themselves in their respective disciplines this season.

After years of near-misses, the trio has finally broken through and are now in the running for the school team of the year award at the 2019 Sports Personality of the Year (SOYA) awards.

Their previous campaigns had been marked by disappointment, but this year's performances have been nothing short of remarkable.

Lelmokwo picked silver in boys' volleyball at the East Africa Games in Arusha, Tanzania, while Mbooni Boys were second in handball behind record national titleholders Kimilili.

Mbooni also made their debut in football at the national level, and Agoro Sare's basketball team reached the national semis.

Their rugby 7's team also made their debut at the national championships.

However, the road to victory will not be easy, as they face off against established teams like Kakamega High and Upper Hill, who have won double rugby 15's and 7's titles.

Other schools in the running for the award include Laiser Hill Academy, Dagoretti High School, and several others.
