As the National Assembly takes a recess from December 5, 2019, to February 10, 2020, state corporations are bracing for a delay in submitting their financial reports.

The delay is attributed to the ongoing vacancy of the Auditor General position, which has left state-controlled companies unable to secure the necessary approval for reporting audited financial results.

Kenya Power and KenGen have already notified their shareholders and the Capital Markets Authority about the extended date for the release of their reports.

Former Auditor General Edward Ouko left office in August 2019, marking the end of his 8-year non-renewable tenure.

According to the Capital Markets Authority, companies must publish their results within three months after the close of the review period.

Among the 17 nominees submitted to the President by the Public Service Commission, 10 are from the Auditor General's office, including Deputy Auditor General William Agunda and David Gichana.
