Published on December 5, 2019, a 17-year-old footballer from Garissa has achieved a remarkable feat in the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom tournament. Abdalla Maro, who plays for Berlin FC, has become the first player to be selected for the Chapa Dimba All Star team, which will travel to Spain for a 10-day training camp in May next year.

Abdalla's selection is a dream come true, especially after narrowly missing out last season due to documentation issues. He expressed his excitement, saying, “Last season I was selected but I was missing some documents hence couldn’t travel. This time I have all the documents and can’t wait to board that plane to Spain,” he told Nation Sport.

Abdalla's passion for football is evident, and he hopes the trip to Spain will be the beginning of his professional football career. He is a huge Real Madrid fan and believes that through Chapa Dimba, he can get noticed by scouts and kick-start his career.

With Berlin FC, Abdalla has already achieved success, winning the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom North Eastern Region title twice. Now, his target is to win the national trophy with his team. He said, “Our target is to win the national trophy and we are working so hard to achieve this. However we know it won’t be easy but we want to prove to the world that in North Eastern there is talent too and we can compete against youth from other regions and win,”
