Kenyan Celebrities Slam Huddah Monroe for Body-Shaming Lizzo

December 5, 2019

Kenyan celebrities have come out in force to condemn Huddah Monroe for body-shaming American rapper Lizzo, with plus-size model Neomi Ng'ang'a leading the charge.

Huddah Monroe sparked outrage on social media after she reposted a naked picture of Lizzo, claiming that she was promoting obesity.

Monroe argued that society is comfortable with body-shaming skinny people, but when the titles are reversed, the debate is switched to promoting body positivity.

However, her comments were met with fierce backlash from celebrities, including Neomi Ng'ang'a, who called her out for her thoughtless remarks.

Ng'ang'a wrote, 'DID I HEAR SOMEONE CALL HER ELEPHANT??? ~ ~##God knows why we human beings do not have it all. I reckon it's so we can compliment, complete and appreciate each other. None of us is close to perfect.'

She added, 'However it is very sad when God gives you a sane mind and opportunities to use your brain wisely for the benefit of yourself and others and you choose to be outright silly and thoughtless. Don't you have a more acceptable and civil way of expressing or sharing your opinions without insulting?'

Other celebrities, including Jamby Koikai, Chris Kirwa, Amina Abdi, Kate Actress, Saumu Mbuvi, Silvia Njoki, Kambua, and others, also responded to Monroe's comments in the comments section.
