A Kakamega lawyer is taking drastic measures to recover losses after his vehicle was filled with the wrong fuel at a local petrol station.

Edwin Wawire, a Kakamega-based lawyer, claims he visited a petrol station in Kakamega town on November 20 to fuel his pickup with diesel worth Sh1,000. However, a pump attendant allegedly filled the vehicle with petrol instead, resulting in huge losses.

Wawire, through his lawyer Derick Mango, has issued a demand notice to the petrol station owner, Julius Gitonga, to take responsibility for the negligence within seven days. Failure to comply will result in legal action.

“Your employee’s misdeed resulted in our client incurring huge financial losses, including towing charges from the petrol station and hiring alternative transportation for the duration that the vehicle was under repair,” the lawyer said in his demand notice dated November 30.

Wawire is seeking compensation for repair charges, loss of reputation, and loss of business opportunity.

However, Gitonga has denied the allegations, claiming that Wawire had ill intentions by escalating the matter.
