On November 26th, 54-year-old Paul Topf, a retired German soldier, went missing after being taken from his home in Lungalunga, Kwale County. His disappearance has sparked a police investigation.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Topf's Kenyan wife, Neema Nyawira, was questioned over his disappearance. The detectives confirmed that the four men and a woman who took him from his home were not police officers.
Further investigation revealed that the signal of Topf's mobile phone did not go beyond Mwambao Bati village within Shimoni.
Neema Nyawira, Topf's wife, initially claimed that she had received information from his sister that he had been deported back to Germany. However, two days earlier, she had stated that he was being detained by immigration officials in Nairobi.
Investigations into Topf's disappearance are ongoing, led by Kwale County Police Commander Joseph Nthenge. Topf had moved to Kenya in 2012 and married Nyawira, with whom he has a seven-year-old daughter.
