Forbes has recognized the achievements of Kenyan DJ Poizon Ivy, listing her in the 2020 class of its prestigious 30 Under 30 list.
At just 28 years old, Ivy has made a name for herself in the sports world, becoming the first woman to DJ at an NBA all-star game.
‘I’m just here to make my mama and Kenya proud,’ Ivy captioned a photo of herself celebrating her latest achievement.
Born Ivy Awino in Kenya, Ivy moved to the US with her family at the age of five and began deejaying at 19 while in college.
She currently serves as the official entertainment manager for the Dallas Mavericks, a position she secured after inquiring about the role and being advised to ‘shoot her shot’.
Her hard work has paid off, with Ivy recently bagging the Best DJ in East Africa Award at the Afrika Muzik Magazine Awards in Texas.
