Carlo Ancelotti, the highly respected Italian manager, is reportedly facing the sack at Napoli after a recent run of eight games without a win in all competitions.
The 60-year-old has enjoyed successful spells in charge of top European clubs, including Juventus, AC Milan, PSG, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.
However, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has allegedly decided to dismiss Ancelotti on December 10 following the club's final Champions League group game with Genk, according to Radio Marte.
This development could be a boost for Arsenal, who were previously interested in Ancelotti but were put off by the cost of releasing him from his role in Italy.
With Ancelotti's contract set to expire on December 10, the Gunners may be able to bring him in on the cheap, making him an attractive option as they look for a new manager.
Ancelotti has denied claims that his Napoli players want him out of the club, saying, "The team is against the coach, they say. But it isn't so."
Despite this, diehard Arsenal fan Piers Morgan believes Ancelotti would be open to the idea of returning to London and the Premier League, tweeting, "Arsenal should move for Ancelotti. We need a manager of his stature & experience to get us out of this mess. I’m told he would be receptive to an approach... #afc."
