Kenya Airways, the national carrier, has taken a significant step towards improving its revenue management by introducing a new ticket sales management system.

Installed by travel technology firm Amadeus, the system aims to strike a balance between high-priced late bookings and low-priced early bookings, a major challenge for airlines in the industry.

According to Sebastian Mikosz, KQ's chief executive, the new system will enable the company to maximise ticket prices across various booking times while remaining competitive.

"As the market dynamics and our customer behavioural patterns change, it is essential to continue innovating and improving processes to meet those changes," Mikosz said in a statement.

The system is part of the airline's turnaround strategy aimed at growing revenues, which have been impacted by losses. The government, its major shareholder, plans to nationalise the airline by buying out other investors.

Amadeus regional executive Maher Koubaa expressed the company's commitment to working closely with Kenya Airways to deliver a new approach to revenue management, tailored to the airline's specific needs.
