Kenyan Cabinet minister Njenga Karume's daughter, Jane Mukuhi Wahito, has passed away while receiving cancer treatment in Israel.
According to Standard Digital, Jane succumbed to cancer of the bile duct on November 27th at 7 pm at a hospital in Israel.
Her family has decided to lay her to rest at Bahan Kibbutz, Israel on December 4th, with a memorial service to celebrate her life to be held at a later date in Nairobi.
Before her death, Jane reportedly asked to be buried in Israel to avoid the difficulties her niece Michelle Karume faced when she died of cancer in the US in September.
Michelle, 26, had mounted a fierce inheritance battle for her grandfather's wealth in local courts and had appealed for funds to treat her cancer, prompting the presiding judge to direct the trustees of Karume's estate to provide the required funds.
Her burial expenses in Israel are estimated to be around Sh700,000, with only her immediate family members attending.
"It was a unanimous decision made by family members, including her children and in-laws, that she be buried in Bahan Kibbutz," a family member said. "We don't want to go through that experience again."
