On the evening of December 4, 2019, a transformer at Daystar University's Valley Road campus in Nairobi exploded, sending flames and smoke into the air.
A video shared on social media showed the transformer engulfed in flames, with smoke billowing from it. The footage, shared by traffic update platform Ma3route, also depicted several vehicles on fire, with no fire brigade in sight.
Several vehicles were reportedly set ablaze in the incident, which has left students and motorists in a state of panic. Kenya Power has yet to issue a statement on the incident.
