Published on December 4, 2019, Jane Mukuhi Wahito, the last-born daughter of the late Kenyan Cabinet minister Njenga Karume, has passed away due to cancer while receiving treatment abroad.

According to a relative, Jane succumbed to cancer of the bile duct on November 27th at 7 p.m at a hospital in Israel.

Her burial is set to take place at Bahan Kibbutz, Israel on December 4th, with a memorial service to celebrate her life to be held at a later date in Nairobi.

Before her death, Jane asked to be buried in Israel to avoid the difficulties her family faced when her niece Michelle Karume passed away in the US two months ago.

Michelle, 26, died of cancer in September after penning a painful letter appealing for funds from home to treat her ailment.

Michelle had also been involved in a fierce inheritance battle for her grandfather's wealth in local courts.

Her burial expenses in Israel are estimated to be around Sh 700,000, with only her immediate family members attending.

"It was a unanimous decision made by family members, including her children and in-laws, that she be buried in Bahan Kibbutz," said a relative. "This is because two months ago, we had a difficult time ferrying the body of our niece. We don't want to go through that experience again."
