On Tuesday, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika broke her silence after being assaulted by a member of President Uhuru Kenyatta's security detail.

According to Kihika, the bodyguard tried to rough her up, attempting to eject her from a line of leaders waiting to meet with the President.

"A male officer came and roughed me up trying to physically eject me from a line the leaders were waiting," Kihika explained.

She added that the two got into a tussle, and a woman came to separate them as she was trying to calm down the situation.

Njoro MP, Charity Kathambi, divulged that two security officers had ordered the MCAs to move out of line, after which they complied.

"When the two came back they found the senator on the line. They thought she was one of the MCAs. The male security officer shouted as he pushed her away," the Njoro MP noted.

It is alleged that the bodyguard, who was dressed in civilian clothes, had confronted some of the lawmakers for carrying handbags, citing security threats.

Some of the leaders who were present during the scene, including Nakuru West MP, Samuel Arama, Gilgil MP, Martha Wangari, and County Speaker, Joel Kairu, were seen trying to step in and quell the situation.
