On December 4, 2019, the Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) announced the nominees for the 2019 Sports Personality of the Year (Soya) boys' school team of the year award.

Among the nominees were three debutante schools: Lelmokwo Secondary School, Agoro Sare High School, and Mbooni Boys Secondary School.

These schools had a remarkable season in their respective disciplines, earning them a spot among the 18 nominated schools.

The winners will be announced at a gala event in Mombasa on January 24, 2020.

Lelmokwo Secondary School picked up silver in boys' volleyball, securing a maiden slot at the East Africa Games in Arusha, Tanzania.

Mbooni Boys Secondary School had a notable season, finishing second in handball and making their debut in football at the national level.

Agoro Sare High School's basketball team reached the national semis, while their rugby 7s team made their debut at the national championships.

The nominees will face stiff competition from established schools, including double rugby 15's and 7's titleholders Kakamega High and Upper Hill.

Other schools in the running for the award include Laiser Hill Academy, Dagoretti High School, and St Antony's Boys, among others.
