On December 4, 2019, a transformer explosion at Daystar University's Valley Road Campus in Nairobi sent shockwaves through the institution, causing a huge fire that razed down at least one vehicle in the parking lot.
The incident occurred opposite Kenyatta National Hospital, with several vehicles burnt in the fire.
A video shared on social media showed the intensity of the fire, with flames engulfing the vehicle.
Fortunately, the university's security team was able to contain the fire quickly, with no reported injuries at the time of the incident.
However, both Daystar University and the Kenya Power and Lighting Company have yet to issue a statement on the cause of the fire.
