Kenya Premier League (KPL) matches have been postponed due to the upcoming Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup. The tournament is set to kick off on December 7, 2019.
According to KPL CEO Jack Oguda, the decision to reschedule the matches was made after informing four clubs of the decision. The clubs with three or more players called up to the Harambee Stars squad for the Cecafa tournament are not allowed to honour league games.
Only Tusker has chosen to proceed with their match against Kariobangi Sharks in the absence of their players. The other two matches involve Ulinzi Stars and Zoo Kericho, as well as Mathare United, who were to face AFC Leopards.
Both Ulinzi Stars and Tusker have three players each in the Harambee Stars squad, while Mathare United and Gor Mahia have four players each. The affected players include Francis Kimanzi 's side.
The revised fixtures have been released, with the clubs whose players are not participating in the regional tourney breaking officially for holidays on December 16, while those whose matches have been postponed play on December 22 and December 29.
